Our Kaupapa/

Purpose

To support the transformation of healthcare within Aotearoa New Zealand into a system that recognises the wairua and spiritual dimensions of wellbeing, ensuring inclusive, equitable, holistic and culturally safe health journeys for all.

Our Process

  • The wairua and spiritual dimensions of lived reality are positioned at the centre of our kaupapa, guiding each step that we will take on this research journey.

  • Te Tiriti o Waitangi mandates a holistic approach to healthcare, whereby the spiritual needs of all peoples within Aotearoa New Zealand are understood, respected and provided for.

We will engage in a Te Tiriti o Waitangi process across all our projects. We will form partnerships with the diverse communities of Aotearoa New Zealand so we may be guided by their knowledge, needs and aspirations every step of the way. This will ensure that the experiences of both Tangata Whenua and Tangata Tiriti are honoured.

  • Our Rōpū Rangahau (Research Team) has been purposely formed to ensure diversity, reflecting the rich diversity of peoples and communities that exists across Aotearoa New Zealand. Our team is made up of peoples from diverse cultural backgrounds (including Māori, Pacific, and Pākehā), fields of expertise (including Māori Psychology, Palliative Care, Nursing, Public Health, Anthropology, Theology and Religious Studies), and belief systems (Wairuatanga, Spirituality, Islamic, Christian, Humanist, and Atheist).
